Board Of Directors
The Centro Giovanile Formativo Italo-Canadese is guided by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors committed to preserving and promoting the Italian language, culture, and heritage within our community.
The Board consists of a minimum of 10 elected members, including the President, Vice Presidents, Treasurer, Secretary, and Councillors. The Director of the Educational Program serves as an ex-officio member of the Board, providing educational expertise and ensuring strong collaboration between governance and the school's day-to-day operations.
What Does the Board Do?
The Board is responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the Centre. Working closely with the Board of Education, and the Director of our Educational Program:
Establishes the Centre's priorities, and long-term goals.
Supports the educational program, advising on curriculum and staffing matters in collaboration with the appropriate educational authorities.
Oversees the Centre's finances and organizational governance.
Plans cultural events, community initiatives, and special programs that celebrate Italian language and heritage.
Leads fundraising efforts that help keep our programs vibrant and accessible.
Builds partnerships with Italian-Canadian organizations and the broader community.
While the Board provides leadership and oversight, our educational staff are responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and supporting our students in the classroom. Together, our volunteers and educators create a welcoming environment where students can learn, grow, and connect with Italian language and culture.
Annual General Meeting
Each December, members gather for the Annual General Meeting (AGM), where the Board presents its annual report and financial statements, and elections are held for Board positions. Community members who are passionate about our mission are encouraged to attend and consider serving on the Board.
